Nordictrack C1650 Treadmill – A Good Buy For You?
The Nordictrack C1650 treadmill is a higher end starter treadmill – not quite mid-range but with a little tougher construction than a starter model.
Plus for some entertainment fun, it carries a full color console and a touch screen web browser.
And for the new model this year, Nordictrack made the console slightly larger than last year’s version.
You also get a very respectable 3.5 HP motor, 12% incline as well as a longer 60 inch belt – which will give you more room to stretch out and move

Nordictrack C1650 Treadmill Review – The Pros:
Full Color Console with Web Browser
Most treadmills at this price point only give you dual color consoles. But the 1650 comes with a bright, multiple color console showing you all your workout stats and readouts. It’s touch-screen ready and really simple to use with one-touch speed and incline change buttons running up and down the sides.
Plus the console also doubles as a web browser. So you can go online, surf the net, read emails and more as you workout, very cool!
It’s also slightly larger than last year’s model – 10 inches across vs 7 inches – making it easier to read your workout stats.
It’s actually kind of surprising to find such a large console on this treadmill since the next model up – the Nordictrack 1750 – actually has a smaller 7 inch console.
iFit LIVE Built-In
iFit LIVE comes built-in to the console (you don’t need to buy the extra iFit module). With iFit you can go online and download new workouts from Jillian Michaels where she coaches you through your workout through the console speakers.
You can also choose different world trails to run and watch as actual landmarks pass you by in the console screen (which is why the full color console makes such a big difference).
You can run in Paris or run along the shores of Hawaii. Or how about visiting the Grand Canyon? This is a very cool way to build some virtual reality fun into your workout.
Choose Your Cushioning
The Nordictrack 1650 comes with adjustable cushioning. You can choose to have a softer surface (for more cushioning protection for your knees, hips and back) or a more road-like, firmer feel.
Adjustable Tablet Holder Above the Console
Nordictrack also added a sturdy bracket above the console to hold your tablet. So you can work or watch your favorite shows on your tablet as you workout. The tablet will not cover the console – so you can watch both your tablet and see the console at the same time.
Listen To Your Favorite Tunes
You can easily plug in your iPod or other mp3 device to the console jack and listen to your favorite workout mix through the built-in speakers.
Stay in Your Target Fat-Burning Zone
You can track your heart rate with the hand grip sensors. The C1650 treadmill is also compatible with a wireless heart rate monitor (but the wireless monitor is not included with the treadmill.)
Folding With Shock Assisted Lift
The C1650 Treadmill also folds up easily and locks into place. There’s a shock-assisted lift that helps you to save the strain on your back. Unfolding the treadmill is also simple as the deck unfolds slowly and smoothly.
Nordictrack C1650 Treadmill Review – the Cons:
iFit LIVE Subscription
While you don’t need iFit to use this treadmill (or web browser), if you want to try out all the benefits of iFit, you’ll need an online subscription (about $144 a year).
No Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
As stated above, while the treadmill is compatible with a wireless monitor, you don’t get one included with the treadmill.
If you want a home treadmill that’s a little stronger than a starter model – but more affordable than a commercial-grade model model – the Nordictrack C1650 is the perfect option.
It gives you great basics like a strong motor, tough deck and extra long belt – with some premium features like the full-color console, tablet holder, iPod dock and incline. Overall, one of the best treadmill values at this price point.
