These two treadmills are the premium models in Nordictrack’s new T-series – treadmills built to be both affordable – and entertaining.
Both treadmills carry the popular full-color, HD touch-screen consoles and iFit compatibility. So you can explore famous trails all over the world – or enjoy a high-energy fitness class from your console.
They also both fold up for easy storage and come with adjustable cushioning on the deck – so you can choose the deck firmness that suits you best.
However there are couple of differences between the Nordictrack T8.5 vs T9.5 treadmills that you should know before you decide.
Here’s a review of the main differences between them to help you make a more informed decision.
Nordictrack T8.5 vs 9.5 – Price
Nordictrack changes the prices on these treadmills quite a bit. However as of this writing the Nordictrack T8.5S treadmill is the more affordable model of the two, coming in around $300 less with Free Shipping here.
That makes it more attractive from a budget standpoint.
The Nordictrack T9.5S is the next model up with a few more perks to it. You can get it direct from the Manufacturer with Free Shipping here.
Nordictrack T8.5 vs 9.5 Treadmill – Motor
The Nordictrack T8.5 Treadmill gives you a strong 3.5 HP motor – which is excellent.
The Nordictrack T9.5 goes one better with a slightly stronger 3.6 HP motor. While it’s not a huge difference it just means the T9.5 can take a bit more use and abuse than the T8.5 model.
But again, the difference between motor powers isn’t huge – so it might not make a difference to you.
Console Size – The Main Difference
The real difference between these two treadmills is in the size of the console.
They both give you full-color, interactive, touch-screen consoles. The Nordictrack T8.5 model comes with a 10-inch console seen here:
The Nordictrack T9.5 comes with a larger 14-inch console seen here:
As you can see, the console is larger on the T9.5 model. A lot of people really like the larger console, especially if you’re going to be watching a lot of the iFit Coach world scenery videos and trails.
It’s kind of like having a larger TV screen – it’s just more enjoyable to have. Here’s another view of the T9.5 console:
So which is better for you – the Nordictrack T8.5 vs T9.5 treadmill?
Well, I actually expected a bigger difference between them.
However they’re both quite similar with the same 60-inch belt, 12% incline, adjustable cushioning and shock-assisted folding.
They both also come with a Free year of iFit Coach on your treadmill.
The main difference is really seen in the console – the T9.5 model gives you a larger console (14 inches vs 10 inches). You also get a slightly stronger motor.
Does this justify the price difference?
That’s really up to you. A lot of people like having the largest console they can. However for some people, it isn’t overly important.
So at the end of the day it depends on your preferences, budget and workout plans.
