Nordictrack X9i – A Good Buy For You?
The Nordictrack X9i Incline Trainer is currently the most popular incline trainer currently on the market. It’s not hard to see why.
For a few hundred more than the X7 starter model you get more of a decline – up to 6%, which means better crosstraining.
You also get a full color touch screen console (vs a dual color, non-touch-screen console). The console also comes with a built-in web browser, so you can surf the net, read emails or watch Youtube videos as you walk.
This can make a big difference in the enjoyment of your workouts.
Plus the full color console makes the the iFit LIVE world trails much more enjoyable to watch.
And of course you still get the high 40% incline that can help you burn almost 5 times more calories than a regular treadmill.

Nordictrack X9i Incline Trainer Review – The Pros:
Burn Almost 400 Calories in 20 Minutes
Looking to lose weight fast? Or burn more calories in less time? The X9i trainer can get you there.
You can burn up to 381 calories walking at a 40% incline for 20 minutes (as opposed to burning 87 calories walking at a 0% incline).
This is almost 5 TIMES the calorie burning. With your body burning through calories like this, you’ll see results in the mirror extremely fast.
In fact, contestants on the Biggest Loser actually used the Incline trainer when competing on the show – because it gets such fast results in little time.
Surf the Net With the Built-in Web Browser
Imagine surfing the net, reading emails, catching up on the latest business news or even checking in with Facebook friends – all while working out. The web browser is built right into the console and uses the wireless internet in your home to connect you.
Plus the console is also full-color and is touch sensitive so you can surf the Net or see your workout stats with the swipe of your finger. Very easy and convenient.
iFit LIVE Built-In
iFit LIVE is a feature that uses the Wi-Fi in your home to connect your trainer to the Internet.
From there you can download new workout programs (including ones where Jillian Michaels from ‘The Biggest Loser’ coaches you through the program), run trails all over the world using Googlemaps and track your fitness activity online.
Plus, the iFit LIVE comes built-in – so you don’t have to buy the iFit module separately as you do with other NordicTrack machines. Here’s a video showing you how it works:
Extra-Wide, Extra-Long Belt
One of the past complaints with many incline trainers was that the belts were too short to run on (they were originally designed only for high incline walking).
However, Nordic Track has fixed this by adding an extra long 60″ belt to the X9 incline trainer. They’ve also widened the belt from 20 to 22 inches.
This gives you extra room to really stretch your legs and run. It’s also ideal for taller users as they won’t feel like they’re going to fall off the treadmill.
Add More Crosstraining with the 6% Decline
In addition to a high 40% incline, the X9 also comes with 6% decline which gives you even more crosstraining options. It’s also really neat because when you run different world trails using the iFit feature, the treadmill inclines and declines to match the actual trail.
Watch TV Shows With The Built-in Tablet Holder
There’s also a built-in tablet holder above the console. So you can use your tablet to watch movies or your favorite TV shows as you walk. You can also use your tablet to connect to iFit LIVE and watch the iFit world trails that way.
The tablet will not cover the console – so you can see both the tablet and the treadmill console with your stats at the same time.
Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
Stay in your target fat-burning zone with the free wireless chest strap that’s included when you get this trainer direct from the Manufacturer here.
Most people prefer to use the wireless monitor since it’s a lot more convenient than having to continually grasp the EKG hand sensors to get a reading. The wireless chest strap also tends to be more accurate
Nordictrack X9i Incline Trainer Review – The Cons
While iFit LIVE comes built-in, you will have to get a yearly subscription to iFit if you want to try it out. You don’t need to get iFit to use this incline trainer however. Everything – including the web browser – works perfectly fine without iFit.
Plus there are a whopping 44 built-in workouts that come (free) with this treadmill already. You can basically wait and try iFit out when you’re ready.
The NordicTrack X9i Incline trainer is the most popular model for a reason. You get the 40% incline (and 6% decline) to burn more calories than a regular treadmill.
Plus you get all of the extras to make your workout a lot more entertaining like the full-color web browser, iFit LIVE, iPod dock, tablet holder and more. And it all comes in under $2000.
You could spend more and go with the X11 model ($2499) which has a stronger motor and a slightly larger web browser. But unless you’re planning on heavy use of your treadmill, there’s not really a need for it.
Where to Buy and Save
You can save up to $1000 Off the Nordictrack X9i incline treadmill direct from the Manufacturer. You can also get Free Shipping to your home which can save you about $150.
