Wondering which is the best one for your home?

With all of the advertising hype at this time of the year (from Nordictrack as well as many other brands), I thought it might be time for a post helping you simplify your options.

What’s the best Nordictrack treadmill for home?

Well, this really depends on you – and what you’re looking for, your budget etc.

This post will break down the current options you have – along with some tips and things to watch out for when shopping.

That way you can find the best treadmill for you.

So let’s dive in:

What’s the Best Nordictrack Treadmill for Home: Overview

This year, Nordictrack streamlined and simplified their treadmill lineup – which was a smart move.

There are really just 3 general classes of Nordictrack treadmills (and several models within those 3 classes). If you know a bit about which class of treadmill you want – you can then narrow it down and choose the treadmill within that class that suits you best.

The 3 different classes of Nordictrack treadmills are the T-Series, Commercial Series and Incline Trainer series. Here’s what you need to know about each:

Nordictrack T-Series

These are Nordictrack’s most affordable series of treadmills, starting around $999 with Free Shipping here. They range from the simpler, more affordable T6.5 model up to the more premium T9.5 treadmill.

These treadmills are ideal for walkers and occasional joggers. They have some great premium features.

However the construction – while very good – is not as strong as the Commercial or Incline Trainer treadmills.

For example, these treadmills are made with slightly smaller rollers, lower inclines and shorter belts in some cases.

That doesn’t make them bad treadmills – it just means that if you’re on a budget and plan on walking or occasional use of your treadmill – these would be the best fit for you. (After all – you don’t need to overpay for treadmill features you won’t use right)?

One of the best things about these treadmills?

Nordictrack T9.5S Console

All of them come with full-color, HD, touch-screen consoles. So you can see your workouts stats in full color. You can also connect directly with iFit through the console and run trails all over the world or take fitness classes from your console.

This is something you don’t find on other brands of treadmills at this price point. So it’s pretty cool to find here.

All T-series treadmills also fold up for easy storage and have auxiliary music ports with speakers. So you can connect your phone or other device and play your workout music through the console.

Nordictrack Commercial Treadmills

As the name suggests, these treadmills give you a higher grade of construction than the T-series of treadmills.

They tend to have stronger motors – or even double motors in the case of the Nordictrack 1750 – which hold up better under longer, more intense workouts.

They also have larger rollers (larger rollers help to reduce static on the belt and ultimately prolong the life of your treadmill).  And the heavier machine weights give you a more solid, stable machine, especially when you pick up your pace.

There are currently 3 different models – the Nordictrack 1750, 2450 and 2950.

Like the T-series of treadmills, all of these models give you full-color, HD, touch-screen consoles with access to iFit programs. However they tend to have larger screens than the T-series models – including the massive screen on the 2950 treadmill:

They also tend to have a few extra perks like higher 15% inclines and even up to 3% decline for added crosstraining. You also get extra storage in the stability bars underneath the consoles.

If you’re a runner or plan on longer, more intense workouts, these are some of the best Nordictrack treadmills for your home.

Nordictrack Incline Trainers

Incline Trainers are basically treadmills on steroids.

They work like a regular treadmill – but instead of the standard 12 or 15% incline, you get up to 40% incline. So you can run on a flat plane – or challenge yourself with a hiking workout.

The benefit to high-incline walking?

You burn MASSIVE amounts of calories. In fact, according to the manufacturer, you can burn almost 5 times more calories on one of these incline trainers vs walking on a flat-plane treadmill.

So if you’re looking for a treadmill that can help you lose weight or tone up really fast – these treadmills are ideal.

Another benefit?

You have a lot more room to grow on these treadmills. You won’t reach the top incline and have nowhere to go.

Even if you can’t do the full 40% incline now – you have a long runway. As your fitness level improves over time and you can take on more incline, you’ll continually be challenged by these trainers.

Finally, most people don’t realize this, but these treadmills are easier on the knees than a standard treadmill.

If you use them in high incline mode, it’s actually less impact on your knees (since the deck is sloped up to meet your feet). Plus you can actually walk slower on a higher incline – and you’ll be burning just as many calories as you would if you were running on a flat plane.

So you can get a great workout – while walking slower with less strain on your knees.

Incline trainers also give you a deeper decline than the Commercial series of treadmills – up to 6%. So you have more crosstraining options here too.

Finally, all incline trainer models also come with full-color, HD, touch-screens with iFit compatibility. So you can run trails all over the world or take fitness classes as well.

The difference is that if, say, you hike the Swiss Alps – you REALLY hike the Swiss Alps. The treadmill inclines and declines to match the terrain of the iFit world trail that you’re running. So it’s a bit more “virtual reality” with the higher incline and deeper declines.

There are 3 different incline trainer models – theX11i, X22i and the monsterX32i incline trainer. They start around $1999 with Free Shipping here.

While they all give you up to 40% incline and 6% decline, the main difference between them is the size of the motor and the size of the console screens.

The downside to these treadmills?

They don’t fold up.

Because of the limits of a high incline design, these trainers do not fold. However you can separate the base/deck from the console frame for easier movement. But if you want a higher-end folding treadmill, you’re better off going with a Commercial series model.

Overall though if you don’t need a folding treadmill, incline trainers are great for anyone – walkers or runners.

They’re also the best Nordictrack treadmills if you want to burn calories faster, need something that’s easier on your knees or just want a treadmill that gives you more options.

So hopefully that helps you answer the question of “What’s the best Nordictrack treadmill for your home”.

It really comes down to your budget, what kind of exercise you plan to do (ie, walking vs running, frequency etc.) and what you want to achieve (ie burn calories faster? take fitness classes with the largest screen possible? get a gentle walking workout?)

The best treadmill really comes down to which treadmill will best fit your goals, budget and preferences. If you find that one, then you’re guaranteed to find a treadmill you love and can use for years to come!
