nordictrack treadmills - 5 benefitsIf you’re shopping for a treadmill, one of the names you’ll no doubt come across is Nordictrack.

They’re one of the most popular treadmill brands on the market today.

But you may not know WHY they’re so popular.

After having spent over 10 years writing treadmill reviews, testing out all kinds of treadmills and different brands, and hearing from hundreds of treadmill buyers, here’s my take on it:

In short they’re popular because they offer more value than most other similarly priced brands.

Here are 5 high-value benefits these treadmills have that you may not know about:

#1 Tough Basics

treadmill motorOk, this one is not going to get you very excited I admit. However having good build, design and basics in your treadmill is essential.

Nordictrack puts strong motors, excellent warranties, bright, backlit consoles and extra-long belts on their treadmills. They’ve been improving in this area year after year.

Compared to other brands in similar price categories, the NT model will come out ahead 9 times out of 10.

That means you get a better built treadmill overall (and hopefully less or no repairs).

#2 Color Consoles

This really makes a difference when you realize that most other brands have dual color consoles. Now, not all Nordictrack treadmill have full-color consoles – the starter models tend to be dual color as well.

But when you can get a treadmill like the 1750 under $1500 with a full color console, that is pretty cool.

incline and decline

#3 Decline

Nordictrack was one of the first mainstream brands to put decline on their treadmills (Lifespan was technically first I believe, but they aren’t as well known or as widely distributed as NT).

You can get up to 6% decline on their higher end models – and 3% on their mid range treadmills. This is very cool as it adds another level of crosstraining to your workouts.

Plus when you use it with iFit LIVE (see below) to run different world trails, the treadmill will mimic the actual terrain and incline or decline to match the real thing – very virtual reality.

#4 iFit LIVE

This alone is worth the price of admission. iFit connects your treadmill to the Internet. From there you can track your workout stats online to set new goals or see how far you’ve come.

You can also download countless new workouts from Jillian Michaels where she coaches you through your workout.

Plus you can also run famous world trails and watch real landmarks pass you by in the console screen (so you see how the full color console is a huge plus here).

#5 Web Browsers and TVs

Nordictrack also pioneered a first in treadmills – the web browser in the console. You can find a lot of their mid-range to higher end treadmills that now carry a touch-screen web browser in the console.

So you can surf the net, read your emails or catch up with Facebook friends as you walk.

And if that’s not enough, you can also find treadmills with built-in TVs like the Commercial 2450. So you can surf and watch TV – total entertainment!

So those are 5 ways that Nordictrack treadmills add more value. If you’re looking for a solid treadmills – with lots of fun extras, it may be worth considering one of these units.
