Bowflex Treadmill 22

These are both premium, folding, runner-friendly treadmills designed to give you a more immersive, enjoyable workout than a regular treadmill.

So how do they compare? And which is best for your needs and goals?

This post will show you the main differences between the Bowflex T22 vs Nordictrack 2450 Treadmill to help you decide:

Bowflex T22 vs Nordictrack 2450 –  Price

Prices on these treadmill do tend to jump around, depending on inventory and time of year sales.

As of this writing, the Bowflex Treadmill 22 comes in a few hundred dollars less.  You can get it for around $2699 with Free Shipping direct from the Manufacturer here.

The Nordictrack 2450 comes in a bit higher. You can get it for around $2999 with Free Shipping direct from the Manufacturer here.

Nordictrack 2450 vs Bowflex 22 – Console

Both treadmills give you impressive, full-color, HD, touch-screens where you can stream virtual training classes or run famous world trails – pretty cool.

The screens are the same size – coming in at a very impressive 22-inches. This is larger than you get with many other home treadmills and really helps to pull you into the action on screen.

There are a few differences between them. Here’s the Nordictrack 2450 Console:

And here’s the Bowflex T22 console:

Bowflex T22 Treadmill Console

The Bowflex T22 treadmill comes with EKG grip pulse sensors on the stationary handlebars. So you can grab them to get a quick reading of your heart rate – which is convenient.

The Nordictrack 2450 doesn’t have the EKG grip pulse sensors (although it does work with a wireless heart rate monitor).

Another thing to like about the Bowflex is that there’s more storage space around the console including 2 drink holders, a media shelf and the storage bar underneath the main console. This is great to store your keys, remote, phone etc.

Nordictrack streamlined the design on the 2450 this year to a sleeker, more futuristic look.

So it doesn’t have as much storage space in the console. Then again, if you prefer a more streamlined, health-club look, you might prefer the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill.

One major benefit of the Nordictrack 2450 console is that it swivels and turns 180 degrees. So you can get off the treadmill and continue watching your workout on the floor if you choose. So there are benefits to both consoles.

Bowflex T22 vs Nordictrack 2450 – Incline/Decline

Both treadmills give you incline AND decline. So you can walk uphill to challenge yourself – or downhill to give yourselfa break if you need it.

The Nordictrack 2450 gives you 12% incline and 3% decline. The Bowflex T22 goes one better with up to 20% incline and 5% decline.

So you have a bit more in terms of crosstraining with the Bowflex 22 Treadmill.

The higher incline is also the reason why Bowflex added the extra handlebars on the console.

It gives you something to hang onto when walking at very high inclines. (You don’t really need these extra bars on the Nordictrack 2450 since the incline is not as high).

Virtual Training Options

This is important because both of these treadmills are built to give you, not just a workout, but an “experience”. And that experience comes in the form of online streaming and virtual training programs.

The Nordictrack streaming service is called iFit. The Bowflex 22 Treadmill services is called JRNY.

Both services offer you a free version and a paid version (which gets you access to all the goodies they offer).

So the good news is that you don’t need to pay a monthly subscription fee with either of these treadmills (you’ll just be limited when it comes to streaming workouts or fitness classes).

Bowflex JRNY

Both subscription services offer you world trail workouts (where you can run world trails and watch the scenery pass you by for a more virtual-reality feel).

They both also give you access to fitness classes.

As of this writing, Bowflex JRNY is only offering streaming classes whereas Nordictrack iFit offers you both streaming classes and live classes.

iFit also has more world trail workouts and even tours of famous sites.

Another benefit of iFit is that you can map out your own trail with Googlemaps. You can save it and then walk that trail, enjoying the scenery around you through the console screen. (Basically you create your own walking/running trail – which is pretty cool).

So overall, Nordictrack iFit has a few more things you can do with it. (It’s been around for longer, so that’s not really a surprise).

However Bowflex JRNY is no slouch either and they’re adding new options all the time.

One benefit to JRNY is that you can watch your own Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus or Amazon subscription services through the console. However be aware that you can only do this with the paid version of JRNY. (You can’t do it with the free version of JRNY.)

Most people won’t like this – since they pay once for the JRNY subscription – then a second time for the Netflix, Hulu, etc subscription.

So is one service better than another?

They each have benefits. It really depends on what’s more important to you and which features you can see yourself using over the long run.

Nordictrack 2450 vs Bowflex T22: Motor Power

The Nordictrack 2450 treadmill comes with a 3.6 CHP motor  – which is excellent.

While Bowflex is a bit cagey about motor power on their website, third party websites claim that the Bowflex Treadmill 22 comes with a 3.0 HP motor.

It’s hard to really confirm this on the website so take this with a grain of salt. However, overall, if you wnat the strongest motor power here, the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill is the winner.

Bottom Line?

So which is better when comparing the Bowflex T22 vs Nordictrack 2450 treadmills?

First of all, they’re both tough, well-built machines that are great for runners and walkers alike. And they’re both from great brands and solid companies.

It really comes down to what’s most important to you, the buyer.

The Nordictrack Commercial 2450 is more affordable. It also comes with a stronger motor and more workout options in the iFit program (like live fitness classes and Googlemaps design options).

However the Bowflex 22 treadmill gives you a higher incline and a deeper decline. You also get more storage space in the console and the hand grip heart rate monitor.

So each one has their own strengths.
