These are two of Nordictrack’s premium Commercial treadmill models – treadmills built with stronger motors, heavier construction and tougher decks than their starter treadmills.

Both treadmills are great choices for heavier use – like long running workouts or homes with multiple users.

The 2450 and 2950 treadmills both give you bright, full-color HD consoles with iFit – which can add a lot of fun to your workouts.

You also get up to 15% incline and 3% decline with either treadmill – which is great for crosstraining.

So how are they different? And which is the best treadmill for your home?

In this post, we’ll go over the key differences between the Nordictrack 2450 vs 2950 treadmills that you should know before you buy. So you can choose the best option for you.

Nordictrack 2450 vs 2950 –  Price

The Nordictrack 2450 has the edge here as it’s a bit more affordable, coming in for around $2299 with Free Shipping here.

The Nordictrack 2950 is the next model up with a few more premium extras. It comes in a few hundred more at $2999 with Free Shipping here.

So is the extra money worth it on the Nordictrack 2950 model? Let’s take a closer look.

Nordictrack 2450 Console

Console Differences:

The console is where you see one of the biggest differences between these two treadmills.

Keep in mind that the console is what you’ll be looking at every single time you workout. So you want it to be attractive and easy to read with the kind of functions you need on it.

Both consoles are much more advanced than a lot of other brands at this price point with full-color, HD, interactive touch screens.

The Nordictrack 2450 treadmill is impressive with a 14-inch, touch-screen console:

However the Nordictrack 2950 takes it up to a whole new level with a whopping 22-inch, touch-screen console:

You still get all the same functionality of the 2450 treadmill (quick touch incline/speed buttons, start stop buttons, etc.). But the touch-screen is much larger and a lot more fun to watch.

It’s like having a gigantic interactive TV built into your treadmill. And it’s going to make a huge difference when you workout – especially when watching the iFit HD workout videos.

So as you can see, the difference in screen sizes between these two treadmills is quite dramatic.

Both consoles also give you the iPod docks with speakers, EKG sensors to track your heart rate as well as a dual-speed fan to keep you cool.

Motor Power

The Nordictrack 2950 treadmill has a slightly more powerful motor than the 2450 model- 4.25 HP vs 4.0 HP.

So it can handle heavier or longer workouts with ease.

This makes it great for runners or multiple-user families where you need a bit more power.

Then again, this isn’t really a huge difference. Both are great motor powers for their respective price points.

Built-in Workouts

Both treadmills come with lots of built-in workouts. However for some reason the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill has more than the 2950 model – 50 built-in workouts vs 40.

This isn’t a huge difference. And if you plan on using iFit Coach which has over 10,000 video workouts to choose from, this probably won’t matter to you at all.

But it’s still worth knowing.

Note that, as of this writing, while iFit Coach is a subscription-based service, if you get either treadmill from the Manufacturer, you will get a 1-year subscription to iFit Coach included.

So you can try out the video workouts – run places all over the world or take high-energy fitness classes from your treadmill – for the full year to see if you like it.

You don’t need iFit coach to use either treadmill – they both work without iFit. But iFit is a great add-on feature that’s there if you want it with either machine.

Bottom Line?

So which is better when comparing the Nordictrack 2450 vs 2950 treadmills?

Well, they’re both strong, well-built treadmills that are made tougher for runners of higher-use households. They both give you incline and decline, high speed limits, strong motors and extra long belts.

One of the main differences is in the size of the console screen.

You get a much larger screen on the Nordictrack 2950 treadmill – a full 22 inches across which is massive. It’s like having an interactive TV screen in your console.

You’ll also see the difference when connecting to iFit Coach if you’re running the virtual reality trails as they will be on a larger screen, which most people really like.

The Nordictrack 2950 treadmill also comes with a slightly stronger motor – helping it to hold up better under longer workouts. It also picked up an “Editor’s Choice” award this year from Runner’s World.

On the other hand, the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill does come in at a more affordable price – so it’s easier on the budget. And you still get a large 14 inch, full-color console with iFit capability to give you fun, productive workouts.

So at the end of the day it really comes down to what you want in a treadmill.
