These are both very popular, highly-rated treadmills. However there is some major differences between them.
This post will go over the main differences between them so you can see which one best fits your needs. However first let’s go over where they are similar:
Nordictrack C990 vs Proform 2000 – How They’re Similar
Both of these treadmills have:
- iFit LIVE Options
- 0 – 12 MPH Speed Limit
- Tablet Holder Above the Console
- Longer 60 Inch Belts
- Cooling Fans in the Console
Ok, so how are these treadmill different?
Nordictrack C990 vs Proform 2000 Treadmill – How They’re Different:
First, it’s only fair to note that the Nordictrack C990 comes in a few hundred dollars less than the Proform Pro 2000. It comes in under $1000 with Free Shipping here whereas the Proform 2000 comes in around $1299 with Free Shipping here.
So to be fair the C990 is more of a high end starter treadmill and the Pro 2000 is more of a lower end mid-range model.
Because of this, you would expect the Proform 2000 treadmill to have a few more goodies and a bit higher end construction. Is this the case? Read on.
The Proform Pro 2000 comes with a slightly stronger motor than the C990: 3.5 HP vs 3.0 HP.
These are both pretty strong motor powers however and are more than enough to power the extra long 60 inch belts.
This is where there’s a big difference. The Proform Pro 2000 has a bright, backlit console – but it’s only dual color, seen below:
The Nordictrack C990 treadmill (this year’s model only) has a full color console with a touch screen web browser – seen here:
So you can surf the net, read emails or watch YouTube videos as you walk – something you can’t do on the higher priced Proform 2000 treadmill.
#4 Walking Area
While both treadmills give you extra long 60 inch belts, the Proform Pro 2000 has a slightly wider 22 inch belt vs the 20 inch wide belt on the Nordictrack C990 treadmill.
The Nordictrack C990 gives you up to 12% incline to add some challenge to your workouts.
However the Proform Pro 2000 goes one better with up to 15% incline and even 3% decline. So you have a bit more room to grow here.
The Nordictrack C990 also has something else the Proform 2000 does not have: adjustable cushioning. If you want a more road-like firmer feel you can turn the cushioning down. Or if you want more joint protection you can easily turn it up.
Nordictrack C990 vs Proform 2000 Treadmill: Bottom Line?
Both treadmills have their benefits over the other – so it really depends on what is most important to you. For example the Proform Pro 2000 has higher incline and even decline with a slightly stronger motor and a wider belt.
The Nordictrack C990 treadmill is more affordable and has a touch-screen full-color console with web browser to add more fun to your workouts. Plus it also gives you adjustable cushioning.
I hope that helps you decide which treadmill is the best fit for you – they’re both excellent quality machines with several “Best Buy” awards over the years – so you really can’t go too far wrong with either one of them.
