Trying to decide between the Nordictrack Elite 1000 vs Proform Pro 2000 Treadmill?

How do they stack up? And which is better for you?

Both are mid-range, folding treadmills with strong decks, full-color consoles and iFit streaming classes.

Considering that the same company (ICON) makes both Proform and Nordictrack treadmills, it’s not surprising that they look quite similar.

They also both give you long 60-inch running decks and up to 12% incline.

The Nordictrack Elite is a bit newer to the market than the Proform Pro 2000. The Pro 2000 has been a favorite for years – and Proform updates it every year or two with the latest Proform toys.

So how are they different? And which is right for you?

This post will show you the key differences between the Nordictrack Elite 1000 vs Proform Pro 2000 treadmill so you can find the best fit for your home.

Let’s dive in:

Nordictrack Elite 1000 vs Proform Pro 2000 –  Price

Both treadmills are mid-range and come in around the same price point (however prices can jump around from time to time depending on stock, season etc).

As of this writing, the Nordictrack Elite 1000 comes in ar $1499 with Free Shipping direct from the Manufacturer here.

The Proform Pro 2000 treadmill comes in at the same price: $1499 with Free Shipping  direct from the Manufacturer here.

So as of this writing, there isn’t really a price advantage of one treadmill over the other.

Proform Pro 2000 vs Nordictrack Elite 1000 – Console

Both treadmills come with full-color, HD, touch-screen consoles. So you can see your workouts stats in full color.

You can also run trails all over the world or take a new fitness class from your treadmill every day with iFit.

Both consoles also measure 10-inches across. So there’s no size advantage to either treadmill.

There is a bit of a layout difference however. Here’s the console on the Nordictrack Elite 1000:

And here’s the console on the Proform Pro 2000:

The stop/start buttons are different and the layout of the fan is different as well. Again, this is minor though and probably won’t matter much to you.

Here’s another view of the Nordictrack Elite 1000 console:

And another view of the Proform Pro 2000 console:

There is one difference however that you may want to consider.

On the Nordictrack 1000 treadmill, there’s a stability bar under the console with extra space to store your remote, keys, phone etc.

The Proform Pro 2000 doesn’t have this. So overall, while there isn’t a huge advantage here in terms of console, the Nordictrack does offer you a little more storage space.

Nordictrack 1000 vs Proform 2000: Incline/Decline

Both treadmills give you up to 12% incline to add some extra challenge to your workout.

However the Proform Pro 2000 also gives you up to 3% decline – which is a nice touch. So you can get some added crosstraining with the decline option on the Proform.

It’s also fair to note that in both treadmills, the incline/decline integrates with iFit. So the treadmill will incline or decline to match the terrain.

So you get a few more training options with the decline on the Proform 2000 – that you don’t get on the Nordictrack.

Nordictrack Elite 1000 or Proform Pro 2000: Heart Rate Training

The Nordictrack Elite treadmill gives you ActivePulse training, which is basically a hands-off training program you can use to stay in your target heart rate zone.

The treadmill will automatically adjust the speed or incline to keep you in your target fat-burning range.

So you don’t have to monitor your pulse and do it yourself. Note however that you will have to add in your own wireless heart rate monitor if you want to use this program (it’s not included with the treadmill.)

The Proform 2000 treadmill does not offer Activepulse training at this time.

Nordictrack 1000 vs Proform 2000: Motor

The motor is the heart of your treadmill. It’s especially important if you’re planning on longer or more intense workouts.

The Nordictrack Elite 1000 comes in with a very healthy 3.0 CHP motor, which is excellent.

The Proform Pro 2000 goes just a little bit better however with a 3.25 CHP motor. So while the difference isn’t a dealbreaker, you do get just a bit more motor power with the Proform 2000.

Bottom Line?

So which is better when comparing the Nordictrack Elite 1000 vs Proform Pro 2000 treadmill?

Both treadmills give you the ability to run trails all over the world or take live fitness classes from home with iFit.

However, there are a few minor differences.

The Proform Pro 2000 gives you a stronger motor and more options to crosstrain with decline.

The Nordictrack Elite 1000 gives you extra storage space and the new ActivePulse option to get heart-rate controlled workouts.

So it really comes down to your what’s more important to you.
