Nordictrack VR25 Recumbent Bike – The Benefits:
Oversized, Adjustable Seat with Lumbar Support
The seat on a recumbent bike is everything. If you go cheap and get an uncomfortable seat, it can mean you don’t enjoy your workouts – or not even use the bike at all.
The VR25 has Nordictrack’s most comfortable, extra-padded seat. It’s easily adjustable forward and back with an adjustment lever under the seat. There’s also lumbar support and a mesh back. This allows air to circulate as you ride to keep you cool.
The bike also offers a simple, step-thru design which makes getting on and off the bike easier (no high barrier in the middle to jump over).
Full-Color, HD Console
The console screen on this bike is unlike most other home recumbent bikes – which tend to be dual color only.
The screen on the VR25 model gives you a full-color, HD, touch-screen. So you can see your workout stats with a swipe of your finger.
You can also connect to iFit Coach – Nordictrack’s online streaming service – and choose from thousands of world-famous biking trails to ride (more on iFit Coach below).
Stay cool with the dual-speed fan controls. Or plug in your phone and play your favorite workout music through the console speakers.
Tablet Holder
The Nordictrack VR25 Recumbent bike also comes with a pivoting, adjustable tablet holder. This attaches to the top of the console so you don’t block the console window.
You can attach your tablet and surf the web or watch Netflix or YouTube videos as you ride.
Stream Cycling Workouts To Your Home with iFit
Connect to iFit through your console and choose from thousands of daily studio workouts. You can stream cycling classes of all different kinds – from beginner up to experienced athlete.
You can also ride famous trails all over the world. Ride by yourself and enjoy the scenery. Or take a guided tour where a trainer takes you through the trail, pointing out interesting landmarks along the way.
There are so many things to do in the iFit library (and they’re always adding more) that you’ll never run out of new trails to ride or new classes to take.
The best part?
While iFit Coach is usually a subscription-based service, if you get the Nordictrack VR25 through the manufacturer, you’ll get a 1 year-membership to iFit Coach included with your machine.
So you can try it for a full year and see if you like it – which is an amazing deal.
(Note: You don’t need iFit to use this bike – it works fine without it.)

Heavy 25 Pound Flywheel
In general, a heavier flywheel will give you a smoother-feeling ride, especially during resistance transitions. The VR25 recumbent comes with an extra-large 25-pound flyweel (compared to the VR21 model with a 20-pound flywheel).
This can help to give you a smoother-feeling ride and a more stable machine.
26 Resistance Levels
You have a lot of room to grow with this bike – there are 26 digital resistance levels. You can also adjust resistance from the side seat controls instead of having to reach up to the console to do it.
In addition to the iFit workouts, you also get 35 built-in workouts to try for added challenge.
Nordictrack VR25 Review – Any Drawbacks?
While you can try iFit out for the full year, if you want to keep using iFit after this, you will need a subscription. You don’t need iFit to use the bike – it works fine without it – but it’s something to be aware of.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for a strong, comfortable recumbent with premium features you can’t find on other brands, the VR25 is worth a look.
The extra-heavy flywheel and upgraded seat give you a comfortable, smooth ride. Plus you can head out and ride world famous trails for some added workout fun.
Or stream a new cycling class to your console every day.
While it’s not necessarily the best option if you want a simple, starter bike, if you want a premium model for an affordable price, it’s a great choice.
