Nordictrack X15i Review – The Pros:
Burn Almost 400 Calories in 20 Minutes
Looking to lose weight fast? The X15 will easily get you there – and you don’t even have to run.
You can burn up to 381 calories walking at a 40% incline for 20 minutes (as opposed to burning 87 calories walking at a 0% incline).
This is more than 5 TIMES the calorie burning. With your body burning through calories like this, you’ll see results in the mirror extremely fast.
15 Inch HD TV
The 15 inch HD TV sits above the console at eye level. The advantage to the TV is that you can put this treadmill in any room in your house and still watch your favorite shows.
This is the only Nordictrack incline trainer – or treadmill – that currently carries the built-in TV.
Monster 4.5 HP Motor
This is the toughest motor that Nordictrack makes and will easily power you through longer, more intense workouts.
If you have multiple users in your home or you just plan on long and frequent workouts, a stronger motor will ensure that your treadmill lasts longer and holds up well under the strain.
Extra-Large Web Browser
Imagine surfing the net, reading emails, catching up on the latest business news or even checking in with Facebook friends – all while working out. The web browser is built right into the console and uses the wireless internet in your home to connect you
Plus the console is the largest that Nordictrack makes – 10″ (vs 7″). It’s also full-color and is touch sensitive so you can surf the Net or see your workout stats with the swipe of your finger. Very easy and convenient.
iFit LIVE Built-In
iFit LIVE is a feature that uses the wireless modem in your home to connect your trainer to the Internet.
From there you can download new workout programs (including ones where Jillian Michaels from ‘The Biggest Loser’ coaches you through the program) and track your fitness activity online.
You can also run famous trails all over the world – from Paris to Hawaii and watch the landmarks pass you buy in the console screen. And the incline trainer works with Googlemaps to mimic the actual terrain. So it inclines and declines to match the terrain – very virtual reality.
Extra-Wide, Extra-Long Belt
One of the past complaints with many incline trainers was that the belts were too short to run on (they were originally designed only for high incline walking).
However, Nordic Track has fixed this by adding an extra long 60″ belt to the X15i incline trainer. They’ve also widened the belt from 20 to 22 inches.
This gives you extra room to really stretch your legs and run. It’s also ideal for taller users as they won’t feel like they’re going to fall off the treadmill.
6% Decline
In addition to a high 40% incline, the X15i also comes with 6% decline which gives you even more crosstraining options.
Nordictrack X15i Review – The Cons
iFit Subscription
While the X15 comes iFit LIVE ready – you will have to get a yearly subscription to iFit if you want to try it out (about $99 a year). You don’t need to get iFit to use this incline trainer however – or the web browser or the TV. You can wait and try it out when you’re ready.
Does Not Fold
Like all incline trainers the X15i does not fold up.
Bottom Line?
The Nordictrack X15 trainer hits on all levels – construction, comfort and entertainment. You can’t beat the monster 4.5 HP motor or extra long belt. And the Reflex Deck cushioning system is one of the best Nordictrack makes.
The X15 is the only incline trainer with the TV option and you’ll never run out of ways to challenge yourself with the iFit LIVE option or incline and decline.
While it may be overkill for the occasional walker, if you’re looking for a commercial-grade machine that is just plain fun to use, this is it.
