Nordictrack X7i Incline Trainer Review – The Pros:
40% Incline Burns Calories Fast
Want to lose weight fast? The X7 can help you get there.
With a 0 – 40% incline, you have the option to crank up the incline and SHRED calories.
According to the manufacturer, you can burn up to 381 calories walking at a 40% incline for 20 minutes (as opposed to burning 87 calories walking at a 0% incline).
This is almost 5 TIMES the calorie burning. With your body burning through calories like this, you’ll see results in the mirror extremely fast, which is really motivating.
You could also use this trainer to save yourself a lot of time. For example you could burn the same amount of calories in 20 minutes on the incline trainer that would take you about an hour on a regular treadmill. Who doesn’t want to get an extra half hour to 40 minutes a day of extra time?
Large Backlit Display
While the Nordictrack X7i does not come with the full-color console found on the X9 or X11 models, it is backlit and easy to read with a scrolling message board that leads you through the workout startup.
The console is also well laid out and easy to use with one touch speed and incline buttons and a handy EKG hand pulse monitor on the side rails.
Extra Crosstraining with 3% Decline
The X7i also adds some crosstraining options in with the 3% decline. This also works with iFit LIVE to incline or decline to match the actual trail that you’re running.
iFit LIVE
iFit LIVE is a feature that uses the wireless modem in your home to connect your trainer to the Internet.
From there you can download new workout programs (including ones where Jillian Michaels from ‘The Biggest Loser’ coaches you through the program), run trails all over the world using Googlemaps and track your fitness activity online.
Nordic track has also added iFit Coach to the new 2017 model. Basically this works like your own personal trainer – every day. You get personalized workouts, individualized calorie targets, and daily activity tips to help reach your goals.
Extra-Wide, Extra-Long Belt
One of the past complaints with many incline trainers was that the belts were too short to run on (they were originally designed only for high incline walking).
However, Nordic Track has fixed this by adding an extra long 60″ belt to the X7 incline trainer. They’ve also widened the belt from 20 to 22 inches.
This gives you extra room to really stretch your legs and run. It’s also ideal for taller users as they won’t feel like they’re going to fall off the treadmill.
Tablet Holder Above the Console
There’s a tablet holder above the console with this treadmill. So you can attach your tablet and surf the net or watch movies as you walk. You can also use it to connect with iFit LIVE and get the virtual reality trail-running experience (see below):
Free Wireless Chest Strap
Stay in your target fat-burning zone with the free wireless chest strap that’s included when you get this trainer direct from the Manufacturer here.
A lot of people prefer the wireless monitor since it’s a lot more convenient than having to continually grasp the EKG hand sensors to get a reading. The wireless chest strap also tends to be more accurate.
Nordictrack X7i Incline Trainer Review – The Cons
With the dual color console, you won’t be able to really see the full details of the iFit LIVE world trails – unless you have your tablet above the console. If you want a full-color console with web browser you may want to check out the X9 model instead.
Also, be aware that the iFit LIVE is a yearly subscription – you don’t need it to use the treadmill. But if you want to try it out it’s about $144 a year.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for the calorie-burning benefits of an incline trainer – without a hefty price tag, then the Nordictrack X7i might be just what you’re looking for.
It’s a simplified version of the incline trainer treadmill – but it’s also the most affordable option, which many people are looking for these days.
You can also use it as a regular treadmill since it has everything you need for that too: long belt, strong motor, heart rate monitor and lots of built-in workouts.
